The Channel Master analog signal meters are designed to speed up the process of satellite alignment by providing an analog or visual display of  satellite signals as well as providing an audio tone to determine actual signal. There is also a gain reference knob for increasing or decreasing meter deflection. Once a satellite is established, it is an easy process to listen for maximum or highest tone pitch or meter deflection and adjust your dish as needed.  This process establishes pin point accuracy when trying to get those weaker signals.  You can select the 1008IFD meter that will tune 2 separate satellites simultaneously, and also provide built in power source so that a receiver is not necessary for antenna setup. The single version is the 1007IFD with same battery pack equipped. The Channel Master signal meters are listed below.

Satellite Meter Uses Receiver voltage

1004iFD Satellite IF amp and broadband detector; derives meter and variable frequency audio tone. Dish aligned for maximum meter deflection or highest pitch tone. Gain control allows range of input signal levels, measurements of voltage on cable and LNBF current.  The signal meter output must be connected to the satellite receiver in order to supply power.  The unit reads the switching voltage of 13/18 VDC respectively on the coaxial cable.  Easy to carry, less than 6" long with shoulder strap. Dual Mode Quick Instructions:  Use the lnb hookups as shown as well as the connections to receivers and unit will tune each satellite independently.  Also can be connected without hooking up receivers for B+ power since it has self contained internal battery. At that point all you have to do is get your offset, elevation, and azimuth and adjust each level to maximum without losing signal on other meter.
