Guide Changes
Recently the channel guide update has changed
satellites to G1-100 (or ch 3) Also use channel 7 for database build and IPG
guide.
Loss of Picture - Breakup
Enter installation-menu with Options 6, 4, 4, then
enter. Use autotune features first #3 Auto tunedish #5 Autoskew,
wait several seconds, each entry. Quality should be higher than 28 or
pixel breakup will occur. Easier to tune an analog channel first with
misadjusted sats -
procedure below
G1
Guide updates - Tips
Turn Receiver
off when not in use, especially in the morning hours when new
ipg guide info occurs. In the installation-menu, the Dish move has to be checked or
receiver will not move to get new guide data. Menu prompts you to G-1
command when any new info is requested. Use
channel G1-3 or channel 100 for updates.
Sat Missing in Menu - Remap Procedure
Go to G0
channel 5, push option 6-7-7-8 then "enter" in manual
tune--at the frequency box enter the numbers 1-3-1-0-0-0-0 so
that the frequency reads 1310.000Mhz. Then push the down arrow
and highlight the word "tune" and push enter. The word will change to "tuning".
In a short time quality number appears in lower right of the menu. If
not, push tune again and wait a few minutes for quality number. Wait 5
minutes for Sat Remapping. Hit exit (or view) button for normal. Missing
Satellite should be back in the program satellite menu. Reinstall if unchecked.
If G-1 is missing with DSR 922 then follow this procedure. Goto G1-150 then,
unplug receiver power for thrity minutes. After initialization, G-0 should be
back in menu, if not goto options 6,4,4, enter and reselect unchecked g-0 and
retune as necessary.
No Satellite Function
No Sat function
on two or more satellites, usually adjacent to each other caused
by corrupted data in memory. Remove power for two minutes. Reboot
will usually fix problem. Reinsert Power.
Satellite Missing
Use the analog adjustment (set channel on 1-24) then, by
pushing the arrow buttons on remote move left or right to locate
sat. Tune for best picture; enter to store (tune the dish position only) adjust
until you find missing satellite.
Reset-Menu
Warning options 6,7,7, 8 will
erase all to factory settings (complete reprograming required) See
special-menu-section for other settings.
Some DSR922 Receivers from the factory have EMM provider pointed to
0001 instead of 0000
Use options 6,7,7, 8,0 The 0
clears EMM provider so that your programmer can rehit the unit. See
Special menu section
Password
Overide
Forget your password? Works with all GI receivers
from 2750 and newer - General Instruments old address zip code 92121 (includes
GI-350I - GI-650I and older models)
Reboot - Initialization
Removing power does not help boot up process, and lcd
display indicates 1. Screen may list a page of numbers. Disconnect
lnb line or sat input coax line to dish, from receiver. Remove power cord
for 10 seconds and apply power to unit. If receiver boots up normally, then the
coax has a short or the lnb needs to be
replaced. If no initialization, then receiver needs to go to
factory for reprograming memory..
Mistuned Satellites
Select an arrow
button while on an known analog channel ( 1-24 ) Move the left or right
arrow and highlight the dish display, Adjust the arrows that
correspond to fine tune, then enter function button, this will retune your dish
or skew positions. Exit to save those settings. This will
reposition-Satellite.
Low or No Audio
Low or no sound
can be fixed by holding the up and down arrows at receiver. ( most receivers
are set at 000 or A0 ) Hold down 4dtv Button on remote until red led falshes,
then enter three digit 10_ and
the last number that corresponds to your receiver setting. In this
case 0 (should enter
000 for default receiver
settings) Adjust volume up button - see gray-bar-graph indicating volume level
on screen. Set to desired (usually maximum) Reprogram satellite button to
previous setting when completed. ( Example 4dtv button - 000
)
Incorrect Time
Call (NPS or Netlink) or your programmer to correct
problem.
No Hits
No hits with a 4DTV 920 can be caused by a weak lnb or one
that has excessive oscillator frequency shift. (slight sparkle on analog
channels?) Recommend replacing with a digital lnb
before sending in for repair for no count in options 6, 5 from your
programmer.
Pixels - No Signal When Changing Channels -
Lnb Test
Complete picture loss when changing channels is due to a
lnb that has severe local oscillator drift. The test for this problem is as
follows: Press options 6 0 5 bringing up diagnostic screen A - Use right
arrow and go to C screen - Look at first number on second line: Should be
between -1.000 and +1.000 If that number is beyond 1 replace lnb: Digital Replacement Lnb
(*Note the Eagle Aspen is a full digital lnb)
Remote Control
Problems
-
Limited Range Check batteries
- 920 only - remote to receiver distance short range: **Uhf coils need to be
tuned inside receiver - Adjust using a non-metallic probe and adjust while
other person is changing channels with remote. (requires spreading the
coils slightly) If unsure, have a tech. fix this.
-
Change 4dtv function (Press up/down arrows same time
at receiver - then arrow up or down to change. Use enter button to store - Hold
Remote 4dtv button until flashing - Enter
00_ and receiver number
(Rcvr# 002, 001,
003, 004) Control needs to match
receiver setting to work.
